MANDATE has been making its mark on Australian Venue Co venues throughout June and July, spreading the men's health message and raising funds for lifesaving prostate cancer research at the PA Hospital Campus.
The campaign has been underway for just over a month and has seen 90 AVC venues around Australia rally together; hosting a range of events including Karaoke Nights, Trivia Events, Fun Day's, Ladies Nights, Carnival themed events and more!
This year marks the 8th year that MANDATE has been encouraging Australian men to muscle up and take responsible actions to keep their most important tool in check - their health. Many diseases are either preventable, or very curable, if detected early which is why it is so important to make an annual date with the GP.
The campaign has raised an incredible $1,000,000 to date, and these funds are crucial in our fight against prostate cancer, enabling us to fund better diagnostics and treatments for prostate cancer, the second leading cause of cancer related deaths among men.
The prostate cancer research projects MANDATE supports are conducted at the PA Hospital Campus which is home to the Australian Prostate Cancer Centre - Queensland, based at the Translational Research Institute. APCRC-Q is one of only two centres dedicated to prostate cancer research in the Southern Hemisphere.
There are still plenty of ways to join the fight and support MANDATE before the campaign's conclusion on July 28. Head along to an AVC venue near you for a MANDATE steak and to start a conversation that could change a life.
The following venues are also hosting events in July: The Club Gladstone Hotel's Harry Potter Trivia Night on July 13, Bribie Island Hotel's Wax for MANDATE, Kings Beach Tavern in Caloundra's Fun-Raiser Carnival on July 20, and Fitzy's Waterford's MANDATE Charity Event on July 27.
